Live Music Now

In 2013, Ron became part of the Live Music Now Scotland scheme playing with accordionist Grant McFarlane and singer Claire Hastings. Going under the name of Aonach Mòr, the band highlights some of Scotland’s finest young talent, with each member bringing their own repertoire and influences to the band to showcase their individual musical heritage.

Live Music Now works with a very diverse range of people that rarely, if ever, have the opportunity to experience live music – some of whom are very disadvantaged. They often face difficulties in communicating, cut off from the joy and pleasures of participating and sharing with others.

LMN’s approach to overcoming these barriers is providing high quality music to those who may not otherwise get the chance to experience it. The work carried out through LMN covers a wide variety of settings, including performances for older people and children with special educational needs across the UK.

Ron readily admits that through Live Music Now, he has truly developed as a musician and professional;

“It has taught me, not only the importance of engaging with new audiences, and having the communication and versatility to deal with that, but also the importance for music in all aspects of life, regardless of age, background, or ability and the true power of music for all.”
